NEWSLETTER January, 2006.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING rj.NG

You are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting which will be held in DunbarDay Centre on Tuesday 21st. February, 2006 at 7.3Opm. After the short business meeting Sheilagh Fallon will give an account of her work teaching modern languages at Dunbar Grammar School. There will be refreshments afterwards and an opportunity to chat with friends and renew membership for the coming year. Please bring along any interested friends or neighbours.

L’Echo Des Communes

The latest newsletter from Lignieres describes the Comite de Jumelag's third annual whisky tasting evening which was held in June. From the illustration it looks as though a cardboard cut out piper took centre stage!
Madame Solange Soulat has been elected the new President of the Comite de Jumelage. Madame Marie Agnes Vervin has been warmly thanked for her past 8 years as President.
The newsletter also includes a picture of Donald and Wilma Brennan's new home in Charost. A Soiree Ecossaise was held in December when guests had a chance to enjoy the efforts of those who had been attending the course of Scottish cooking lessons led by Abdy Richardson.

Stenton Singers.

Stenton singers are taking flight to visit Lignieres once again from the 27th April to 1st May. We wish them
well and know that they will receive a very warm welcome.

Scholarships

The committee is very keen to set up a scholarship exchange for work experience for young people in Dunbar and Lignieres. If you know of anyone who would be interested please let us know. 01368 864328.

EAST LOTHIAN TWINNING ASSOCIATION NETWORK EVENING

The annual East Lothian Twinning Association network event was held in October in the Town House in Haddington. This was an informal occasion when members representing the Musselburgh, Haddington, North Berwick and Dunbar Twinning Associations commented on their past year’s activities and had the opportunity to discuss matters of concern or interest. We learned that Prestonpans is developing links with Barga in Italy.

TEENAGERS TRIP 2006.

Plans are in hand to enable a party of children from the college in Lignieres to visit Dunbar in the autumn of 2006. It is likely they will be accommodated altogether in a residential facility such as Innerwick Outdoor Centre and they will be entertained jointly by the Grammar School and the Twinning Association. Chris has been working hard to make this visit happen and we’re looking forward to introducing another group of young people to East Lothian.

LANGUAGE RESOURCES.

We have a collection of user friendly French language tuition tapes and CDROM. These are available to borrow free from Sandra Duguid, (864328). If anyone has educational resources they would be willing to
donate we would be pleased to hear from you.
